Hi Bulldogs it's Mister Lancto here to welcome you back to another school year for the 2020 and 2021 school year with the shaping up to be one of the most unusual intriguing creative and at times probably frustrating school years but ultimately we Are lyrics I did about it because that means we get to see you guys again because we have missed you it's been a long summer it's been an even longer spring it feels like forever since we've all been able to get together and hang out so looking forward to seeing everyone back in whether that's online or in-person couple things I want to talk about for orientation next week that you need to be aware of is just make sure that you know that we have orientation next week what time you're supposed to be here to the that way you can come to pick up your Chromebook, High School picture, get your schedule most importantly and turn in any of the medical or contact information forms that we've sent out so make sure that you know what time you are supposed to be here next week for that we've also put together a presentation for are the information that we would have gone over in the auditorium but is still important for you to hear and see and have on your radar also just educate yourself about things that need to go on this school year so please make sure that you're taking a look at that presentation before school starts so that you guys are aware of all that new or just reminding information if you have any questions about the orientation please make sure that you're contacting one of the assistant principals mrs. mr. Kennedy or Mr. Nguyen let's talk a little about school in school might look differently although I might look differently it's still going to be the same grade Grandville high school that we've known in the past they're just in different ways that we need to do things whether they're in the hallway in the classroom at lunch time so what we put together some videos that were so make sure you check your school e-mail throughout next week we put together some videos about showing you guys the different changes in the different procedures and guidelines that we need to follow throughout the school year and here's the deal I need your help we need your help to make sure that we're following these guidelines and fire following these procedures in order to make everyone safe and so that way we can keep the school year going as we wanted to go I need your help with masks weenie make sure that you're wearing your mask and you're wearing it properly so please help me remind your friends remind other students remind me if you need to help remind me to make sure that you're having your mask on and we're wearing them properly we need to make sure that we are following those guidelines that way we can keep everyone safe students were doing online learning I know that there's might be some questions or you know some confusion on what's going on make sure you're looking at the information found in the email today how school is going to look for you and what are the expectations for you it's going to look a lot different than the spring you are logging into your class schedule so if you have first hour English at 7:15 you need to be logging into first hour English log in through the Google meet your teachers will put on their Google Classroom your teachers will have a lot of different information in a lot of different ways that they're going to gauge you made it might vary from class to class but ultimately you're responsible for coming to class everyday cuz that's your attendance and engaging in the material the conversations in class and doing school in person if you have any questions reach out to your teachers counselor or one of the assistant principals Leslie I want to talk a little bit about concentrating on grit we talked last year about Gretchen and showing Gretchen the different spaces around the school but I also want to talk about how we need to show grit this school year. Only from a perspective of overcoming obstacles and difficult challenges that will face this year and with that we've already faced but I want to talk about the Tea specifically in great and that's togetherness we are going to have to work together this year the students the staff the community Administration everyone's going to work together this year to make 2020-21 school year the best I can be because we can't do it alone soon as I need help to help follow the guidelines in the hallways in the classroom in the lunchroom I need your help to remind each other to 2 when when someone is not remembering those those safety guidelines are those protocols soon as I need your help to make sure that positive in your having patience in your understanding you treating each other with respect and I wanted to focus in on that specifically we have to work together whether it's following the guidelines of the way schools going or just in general how we treat each other see everyone's coming back to school with with different perspectives different things that have happened to them in the last 6 months different ideas on a lot of different things and that's okay everyone's coming back for any play see this school year someone had a great summer some of had a rough summer and I think we need to make sure that we recognize that everyone needs to work together and ever need to help each other out see there's no place at Granville high school for hate intolerance bullying Jasmine we're not going to be intentionally rude to everyone the world's been difficult enough these last few months in the world's hard enough and there's a lot of different noise out there on different perspectives different opinions and different viewpoints and that's different viewpoints in a diverse thinking makes us stronger But ultimately we can't be divided here at Grandville High School we're all bulldogs and if we if we engage in intolerance and hate and bullying harassing behaviors all that does is bring us further and further apart our diversity is what makes us strong here are diapers thinking our diverse ways are diverse backgrounds in the different talents that we have our divers town you don't like this music if it's Athletics if it's robotics if it's academics if it's poetry whatever it is that you bring to Grandville high school we are just want to celebrate it together so I want you guys to think about does every start the school year because it's going to be challenging can be frustrating it's going to be fun we're going to have some laughs ultimately we have to work together and we can't do that by dividing so I need your help this year I'm looking forward to working with you I'm looking so forward to seeing you guys because ultimately this is what I do this is the reason what I do is to see you guys and help work with you guys so Bulldogs I hope you guys are excited for the 2020-21 school I think it's going to be a great year despite all the different just because we're going to make it to the best you we can we're not going to say we can't do something we're just going to figure out how to do it I'm going to show that Grandville grit will see you next week take care go Bulldogs
